Hello there!
Its Jonathan, just to let you know what I am trying to in the Midhurst area and to see whether you will be interested in being part of it.
I am aiming to set-up a youth group in Midhurst in June I am trusting that God will place this project upon various peoples hearts as I will need help with drinks, pastoral people, organisational skills, servant hearted people to help set up and take down and eventually to pass the leadership over to the young people. If you believe God is calling you to this important work please respond quickly as the time is short. The values of this project are:
Seek first the kingdom of God the Father. We seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, through prayer, word and worship. Worship- finding relevant ways for us to express Gods worth to him.
Breaking bread together. Authentic Christian community celebrates the breaking of bread to celebrate and remember What God has done for us in Christ, encountering Christ as we do so.
Prayer. We communicate with God and release God’s power in our lives through prayer.
Scripture. The Scriptures our guide in all matters of faith and the life of faith.
Teaching. Through teaching informally and formally we are seeking to apply the scriptures to our context of 21st century young peoples world.
Experience. In all these things we aim to foster an experience of God through the Holy Spirit. Thus aiming to be a community of the Trinity.
Community. Christian Community is the aim of what we are doing. Relationships. This means that we focus on relationships and value every individual. We teach that every individual has a responsibility to value the community. We are community and we value community. We value the community of the local and world-wide church both now and through history. Acceptance. Our community will be a place of acceptance and belonging were we share life as Gods family together.
Mission. The Christian community is a ‘going’ mission community as well as a sign of the kingdom and as such we are committed to loving and going to serve the world outside through evangelism, service and social concern recognising it is his mission and we are co-workers. .
Voluntary participation: we operate in such as way that young people are free to participate or not.
Informal education: we share faith as we share the journey of faith.
Empowerment: we aim to allow Young people to shape things and delegate leadership where appropriate.
Equality of opportunity: everyone is valued no matter who they are.
Incarnation: getting along side young people in their world.
