Parochial Church Council

Text Box: The Parochial Church Council meets every two months to discuss all matters relating to our Church community within our Parish. The Council is responsible for co-operating with the incumbent in promoting the whole mission of the Church pastoral, evangelistic, social and ecumenical according to the doctrines and practices of the Church of England.

Membership is determined under the Church Representation Rules and consists of :
the incumbent
lay readers
the churchwardens
members of the Deanery, Diocesan or General Synods
up to 12 lay members elected at the Annual Parochial Church Meeting.

The elected members serve a 3 year term, with a “4 on and 4 off” rotation every year.

Much of the PCC’s work is carried out by its four sub-committees.
Mission,
Finance and Fabric
Pastoral
Social.
Each member of the PCC is a member of at least one committee, so that every member is able to share in the PCC’s responsibilities. Non-PCC members may also be co-opted to the sub-committees. The committees meet regularly and report on their activities and make recommendations for approval by the PCC. The membership, structure and function of each committee is reviewed annually.

Mission Committee
The Mission Committee aims to foster the building of relationships, both inside and outside of the church and encourage people to take responsibility for the outreach ingredient of all that they do. The development of Sunday Morning Live is an ongoing task; we wish to enable the provision for something for people to move on to.

Finance and Fabric Committee
The Fabric and Finance Committee is charged by the PCC with an overview of the physical and financial assets of the church. Matters relating to the fabric of the church are included in the Churchwardens’ Report, while the Annual Financial Report sets out and reports on the financial position of our church.

Pastoral Committee
The Committee’s remit is to reflect upon the pastoral care needs of our existing church community with the aim of being able to live out the oft quoted saying “See how these Christians love one another”.

Social Committee
The role of the Social Committee is to facilitate, enable and promote a variety of events both within and around the church with the aim of building relationships in the wider community. Main events follow the church calendar.
